The Process
2,100°F. Fusing memory into light.
Each memorial begins as a gather of molten glass. As the glass is shaped at the furnace, a small amount of cremation ash is gently folded into the hot core.
The carbon burns away instantly, leaving the mineral ash behind. The ashes expand inside the crystal, forming unique, swirled constellations of white stardust forever frozen in time.

About the Artist
Darby Andrews & DRB Thunderfoot.
For over 30 years, Darby Andrews has been blowing glass in the state of Alaska, making him one of the region's most established glass art pioneers.
Operating out of his private studio nestled in Girdwood, Alaska, Darby draws inspiration from the raw, volcanic geology and ice-carved peaks of the Chugach Mountains. His cremation crystals reflect this connection to nature, capturing the essence of memory inside thick, molten borosilicate glass.
