Safe Ash Handling & Shipping

Entrusting us with the remains of your loved one is a sacred responsibility. We maintain a zero-cross-contamination workspace and adhere to strict safety, tracking, and legal guidelines at every stage.

1. How Much Ash to Collect

We require only a small amount of cremated remains to craft our glass memorials:

  • Glass Pendants: 1/2 teaspoon of ash per piece.
  • Glass Orbs & Stars: 1 teaspoon of ash per piece.

Any unused ash is carefully gathered and returned to you alongside the completed glass artwork.

2. Packaging Failsafe

To prevent leaks, package the remains double-bagged:

  1. Place the gathered ash inside a heavy-duty sealable plastic bag (Ziploc style).
  2. Clearly write your Full Name, Order Number, and the **Name of your loved one** on the bag using a permanent marker.
  3. Place that bag inside a second sealable plastic bag for double protection.

3. USPS Legal Requirements

By United States federal law, human or pet cremated remains must be shipped using **USPS Priority Mail Express**. Private couriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL) do not legally permit shipping cremated remains.

🚨 IMPORTANT USPS RULES:

  • Ask for **USPS Kit 139** (Cremated Remains Kit) or put a **Label 139** on all sides of your box. Label 139 is a bright orange label that alerts handlers to the sacred contents inside.
  • Select **Signature Required** on delivery to ensure the package is hand-delivered to Darby Andrews.
